This week I had the honor of speaking at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church to a group of 45 women on Living in Gratitude and stopping the worry habit.
We focused on what to do if you cannot stop worrying. I thought this information might be something you are interested in, as well.
I learned these steps from the book The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale.
Here are the five steps we discussed:
- Believe that you can. You cannot break any habit unless you think you can.
- Empty your mind each night. The best way to do this is to ask God to empty your mind and refill it with courage, comfort, and peace. Let Him take it all.
- If you are nervous and worried during the day. Ask God to comfort you and protect you and your family, and then thank Him for doing so because you have faith that it is true.
- Every morning fill your mind with things you are thankful for and ask God to keep you positive.
- Go about your day being thankful. When you are being truly grateful you won’t have time to worry.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers. Being a mom is the hardest and most rewarding job in the world.
